Hi all
I've got a situation where I need to give certain people read access to files belonging to root. I don't want to give them root access obviously.
The perfect solution would be to use ACL's, but i realized with a bang that ACL's only work on HFS and JFS3.3(or later) filesystems. We're not using either of the two, so I'm a bit stuffed.

I can copy the files and change the permissions, but it is quite a lot of files and diskspace aren't always available.

On what other ways will I be able to give these users read access to the files?

Thx in advance

via group permissions, maybe.

cre8 new group, add "certain people"
change group owner on the files.
