Hi,

I have a router which is up and running and connecting my lan users to the Internet, however there are a couple of issues I need to resolve:

Our previous internal address range was 192.1.1.0 which I recently changed to the legal private range of 192.168.6.0. My problem is that a number of PC's still try and connect / search for node / apps on the old range causing the router to make a connection to the Internet each time. Can anyone suggest the access list command I need to configure to stop any internal requests for destination addresses in the 192.1.1.0 subnet being considered interesting by the router.

Also, to allow lan users to access the Internet via the router I presume I just need to make sure the clients are aware of the gateway machine and the ISP DNS servers in their IP settings, and that their browser are set to automatiaclly detect the settings?

Thanks for any help.

make a static route pointing to a black hole.
ip route 192.1.1.0 255.255.255.0 null

this is much more efficient than using an access-list

Thanks,

After I enter 'ip route 192.1.1.0 255.255.255.0 null' in the global conf it promps me to enter a number (0-10)... shall I just enter '0'?

Cheers,

Marcus
