I built an Access form tied to a db. I have a comments box that I want to make a txt box. The 255 character limit for a field is not enough. Is there a way to have a txt box that is exclusive to each record where I can enter more than the 255 characters?

Thank You

Yes PHV the txt box is tied to a memo field in the db. The txt box will not act like a txt box. It limits me to the 255 characters and I cannot use my Return key to enter a new line. When I use my Return key the focus tabs to another field.

Did you try to use Ctrl+Return to enter a new line ?

Hope This Helps, PH.

First off, Forms and Textboxes are not 'tied' to 'dbs,' aka Databases! They are part of a Database file! Forms are tied to Record Sources, which can be either Tables or Queries, and Textboxes are part of Forms.

If this Textbox is, indeed, Bound to a Memo Field in the underlying Table or Query, there are a number of things that can cause it to be truncated to 255 characters.

Allen Browne has an excellent article on this subject that may help you:

OK got it. Thank You for all your input. All was helpful. Didn't know what a memo field is. Been away from this long time, never used memo fields.
