After finding a similar thread from yesetrday on another website I thought I'd enquire here while i wait for AVG to get back to me.
This morning all four of my Acer Power M8 PCs running Win XP and AVG8 SBS edition kept rebooting just before the Windows logon box appeared (applying compter settings). This does not happen to any other of my Win XP / Win 2000 machines, all with latest service packs and same edition AVG as these AcerPower M8s.
Anyway, it transpires that once I remove AVG8 from these systems they boot fine. I've tried various attempts at reloading AVG onto these systems (without firewall, without remote admin, antivrus only etc) but they all result in the machine not being able to get to the login prompt.
If I turn off reboot-on-error when I press F8 on bootup, the bit that it normally reboots gives me a BSOD with:
has anyone else had this? I'm loath to start removing Acer related programs as I guess it's going to be the AV at fault! However, I am stuck withut an AV on these machines and waiting on AVG.
Thanks
Dan
