I recently took over for another guy at our company and found and older Acer 220 on the shelf, when I turn it on everything sounds like it is running and booting but i have no video at all. Not even the bios page, splash screen, or anything its completely black? Anyone taken one apart or know where the video cable is on this laptop? I am assuming that its the cable between the card and the montior? Thanks for any help.

It might not be the video cable that's the problem, the lamps could have died (LCD screens are illuminated from behind). Also check whether the display has been turned off or down with softkeys. On my old Acer laptop there was a keyboard combination which turned off the display to save power. This just turned off the lamps - if you held the screen up to a bright light you could just about tell that the LCD panel was still active, you just couldn't see it normally as the lamps were off.

Thanks I will try that if I get it going but looks like now its dead all together. I was trying to wiggle the wiresfor the screen where they go the screen and on the motherboard and it didn't like that much. It shut down and is deader than a doornail. I've got nothing at all, there must have been a short and it fried the board now.
