acer AL2223W monitor driver

Ever since I got this screen sometimes when exiting full screen mode from an application the desktop is black and I need to do a hard reboot to reset the display. I tried installing the software that came with the monitor, I checked acer.com for the .ini file and nothing. When I check the display properties it's listed as Plug and Play Monitor on Radeon 9250. The Radeon has 128MB ram and the drivers are updated. My destop is 1600x1200 and 16 Bit color.

Generically running XP Pro with 2 GB ram - system has run quite well for a long while and was fine with the older smaller LCD display... so I figure it's either I need an ini file for this SPECIFIC monitor OR my video card doesn't have enough memory on board to support the display size and settings. Can't find an answer on either so I came to the experts
