Hi;

We're trying to utilize a ScanFob bluetooth barcode scanner with an Acer-A1(810) tablet/Android 4.2.2.
It will pair, but we can not get the keyboard to activate with the scanner.
Does anyone have experience with this or offer suggestions.
Trying to roll-out a mobileApp inventory solution.

Thanks,

As far as I can tell from a few searches something strange occurrerd with Bluetooth keyboard support, possibly in 4.3 but perhaps earlier? It seems that many such "keyboards" are recognized as some sort of generic game controller and appear as "Broadcom Bluetooth Device."

Some have suggested that renaming keyboard layout files to "hide" the incorrect one that gets selected will fix this, probably by defaulting back to Generic.kl which works.

You might try some searches for more detail on this, e.g. "android bluetooth keyboard not working" or something similar.

I haven't seen anything about a patch from Google so this may be your only option for this "keyboard" device. It may require root access and some fiddling to find a working solution.
