Hi
can anyone help please
I have just installed a new slave drive, closed down removed old one, replaced with new ones jumpers set to slave ready to go

I started the PC and booted Win 2K CD to set up it followed prodedure to restart. PC started ok and then gave a Grey box with red cross. The error message stating...
AcctMgr.exePoint of entry not found. The procedure entry point GetRawInputDevice could not be located in the dynamic link library USER32.dll

I have restarted the PC several times each time I get the error. I have booted win2k CD and run repair through the console still the same error on restart?

I have partitioned the new slave disc and formatted it, removed this and done it all again, still the same error on restart?

All discs are visible in the manager and writing to them seems ok

I have uninstalled MS money and Norton Utils and Anti virus still the same error on restart. I re-installed them and still the same problem.

Can anyone shed a little light on this please

Thank you in advance

Paul

Is "master" and "slave" set correctly? I've seen some HDDs with "Master" and "Master with slave" and "Slave". When set wrong, the primary master will work OK until you attach a slave. Depending on your BIOS, you can get a lock up or errors.

Hi thanks for getting back to me

Yep jumpers are correct

I even renewed the IDE cable as I found a slight crack in the old old

Drives are also in correct order with Master on end of IDE cable

My BIOS has also been upgraded

Everything seems to work except when I restart I alsways get the error message.

The only thing I do have problems with is Norton Utilities when doing a defrag it always gets so far and restarts the machine doing a dump of some kind. I have uninstalled Norton Utils and Norton AntiVirus restarted etc to check before re-installing.

Error message shows every time I restart the PC

Strange and a bit worrying due to the file name accmgr

Did a Google search on AcctMgr.exe. Found this reference. Did you have Norton on the old drive?

AcctMgr C:\Program Files\Norton SystemWorks\Password

Thank you for your help I checked for the folder
C:\Program Files\Norton SystemWorks\Password
which wasn't there but... did find a Norton folder for Password manager that I purchased recently low and behold there was the file causing the problem!!!

I uninstalled Password Manager and restarted the PC the problem had gone. I re-installed it and the problem returned, so for now I have uninstalled it. I will need to contact Symantec as something has been left behind when uninstalled that causes the conflict

Thanks again for your help

Paul
