AccPac ERP 5.4A and Pervasive SQL 9.5 PS2

We have recently upgraded to AccPac ERP 5.4A(all modules fuly patched) and Pervasive SQL for WIndows 9.5(SP2).

Some clients receive Error 98 "Cannot access Database". To resolve this issue, I have to then start/stop Perviasive SQl(Transactional and Relational service)on my server. Clients can then access AccPac without error until the next time.

Is there any settings I should look at on the Client and Server end to stop this problem from ocurring?

 
Error 98 = network communication errors.
Either something is screwing around with TCPIP or DNS, or your Pervasive engine has stopped.
Which Pervasive engine are you running? Server or Workgroup...
It could also mean that your user count is exceeding the Pervasive user licenses.
Look in Pervasive Monitor if anything looks off.
 
Thanks for the advice on Pervasive. Wasn't even looking in that direction since the system was upgraded in January/07 and never received that error before. Students have just started a month ago. We must have reached are ceiling at certain times of the day.

I will monitor that side.



 
Mdufresn, you mentioned students. Are you in a school system or similar? If so, I would love to talk offline.
 
Sorry for not replying sooner...very very busy!!

Got it resolved. I work for the provincial government. The students I am refering to are summer students working in finance.

The problem was this;

I ran pervasive monitor on the server and found that three student machines were holding files opened and exceeding the Paervasive license limit of 10. The computers had traces of pervasive 2000i SP4 client and AccPac 4.2A software somewhere on the machines and deep within the registry, causing our problems.

I just received my new computers at the right time. I configured and installed fresh copies of Pervasive 9.5 SP2 and AccPac 5.4A client.

It has been over two weeks and no crashes. Everything is working fine.
