Accpac alerts and Crystal

I am trying to use Accpac Alerts 5.3 to run a Crystal Report and email the result to users.
This is a customised Crystal Report and doesn't sit in any standard directory, so I don't really want to use the xxrpt.ini file that calls the Xapi.
My problem is that I can't find any documentation on what Accpac Alerts uses, and so I keep trying to use methods that don't work for the object.
Does anyone have some sample code that works, or any idea of what documentation is relevant. Have never seen anything put out by Accpac.

My provider doesn't do training in VBScript for alerts. Basic training, yes.
All I'm after is a bit of tech doc to get me round some of basic connection and automation issues.
I can get 90% of the way, but am missing the last bit. Can't seem to get the report connecting to the SQL db, despite using the correct connection string. Looks to me like I'm working with objects out of two separate environments that aren't talking.
As far as I know, there is no Accpac documentation for Alerts. If there is, I would love to be able to access it.
