Hi,

I am new to Accpac and need to install Accpac Advantage Series 5.2a on a new Windows XP Machine. Since there was an install.bat file on the server, I mapped the drive, click on it and it went through the entire installation fine. I understand that I also need Pervsavie SQL to run Accpac and have downloaded and installed Pervasive SQL v8. I went into Pervasive and created all the Databases, not sure if I have done it properly, and launch Accpac with the following error:
Cannot access database (error=2). See help for more info.

Thanks
Ben

1. I have no idea what Install.bat was, the normal workstation setup is \WSSETUp\Setup.Exe.

2. Is the data on a server, or the workstation?

Hi Jay,

The data is on a server. I am trying to setup the workstation. I think this might have something to do with the Pervasive database configuration on the client side, but not too sure.

Thanks,
Ben

From the server, run \Pvsw\Clients\Win\Setup.Exe to get the Pervasive client. I assume that the server is running the Pervasive server engine. If it's not, then your data has to be local to the PC, and you run the Pervasive Workgroup engine.

But I don't know how you were able to create the databases if you can't access them now.

Hi Jay,

I do not have this directory on my server, what I did was download Pervasive.SQL_8.6_workgroup_dev_Windows.exe from the Pervasive site and installed in on the local machine. After I installed the Pervasive Engine, I went into Pervasive Control enter, under my workstation nmae, Inside Databases (Engine) and created the New Database names that are the same as on my server. Please help!

Thanks,
Ben Zheng

1. Delete all the DSN's you created.
2. Simply login to Accpac, and the System Manager will create the DSN's automatically.
