Hi, would anyone know when 6.1 will be released?

It has been put off and no release date has been published.

The next release will be known as Sage 300 ERP 2012, so judging by that it might be released this year still.

Thanks ettiene.
Will 6.1 include the web UIs?
I've been told they have been delayed indefinetely?

Are you serious?
I was really looking forward to using Accpac in a browser.
What's the alternative? Sage X3?

Seems to me that Sage 300 is being re-positioned as a low key finance system.

If I wasn't serious, I wouldn't post. Your alternative depends on your needs, there are many accounting packages out there.

That's the problem - too much choice.
Do you have any customers in mining or drilling services? What do they use?

They use Sage Accpac ERP, of course. They don't give a crap about Web UIs.

Doubt that.
Thanks for sharing your opinion anyway.

I think the most recent release date is third quarter of 2012 with a product update in the last quarter, this was given in the last couple months, I believe.

The web ui isn't going away. They have a demo of it online, so unless they want to scrap all that work, it's not going anywhere.

My sources tell me the web UI is going away, it was too hard to do. Switch to Netsuite or SAP if you want a web client.

I will confirm what tuba says, the whole web UI development which was to be released as 6.1 has been scrapped.
Clients think they need a web client, but what they really need is terminal server.
We have clients in the mining industry and they don't give a crap about a web UI, none of our clients do.

From what I've heard the SData technology is still being developed. That's only 1/2 of the new technology. Getting the order entry screen to work via HTML/CSS/whatever in any web browser was the challenge. That's a complicated screen - lots of popups, panels, etc. And they decided that they couldn't get it to work good enough for them to release it as an option.

The next SData feeds with the backend Tomcat engine allows for other UIs to be written to communicate with Accpac - those could be written in VB (joking), VB.NEt, C#, Delphi, iPad, Android, etc. That would allow them to modernize the interfaces.

The exciting part about the web interfaces is that they were going to be modifiable so that those of us customizing screen mods could integrate the customizations in a much cleaner way. There's nothing stopping Sage from using a different development environment to allow the same thing.

I heard that the sdata/tomcat interface was a complete failure and that they could not get multiple transactions processing at the same time, i.e serial processing only. We've seen this issue with high volumes in CRM with the current release, only time will tell.

Oh. Well _that's_ no good. At least I have VB6 on DVD and not on floppy disks.

Well I guess I stand corrected.

I was looking forward to it. That sucks
