I have AccPac Version 6.1 for Dos and recently purchased a system with Win XP. I've added my old hard drive to the new system and it's recognized. AccPac will run under Windows XP but it doesn't seem to find my old AccPac files and directories. It wants to create new ones. Can I have Win XP "point" to the original files? Or can I somehow back up my original files and then restore them? Please explain.

Thank for any information you can provide.

Hi,

If you have a new machine and hard drive and just added the old hard drive to your PC the accpac start list will be pointing to the wrong drive letter. Probably why it wants to create data. Highlight the start list entry IE. General Ledger, and press "TAB" make sure the path is correct IE. "D:\asp\data, *.dat" the data is still there but your program is not pointed to the data. Let me know if you need any further assistance.

regarding dasta files in ACCPAC 6.1 running under win XP,...I've been told that you can't use a path to a dynamic disk, but instead have to change pointers individually...and worse still that even pointing to a basic disk, data can become corrupt if opportunistic locking isn't disabled...and that hang on attempting to post is another problem.

I'm on the verge of scrapping the idea and loading win 2K

anyone have advice?

thanks
