Our organisation stages events.
To account for them I have a six segment account structure.
The first segment is the income/expense type .. the others concern the venue/area/event.
For each new event I need to create 14 GL accounts, with only the first segment (income/expense) changing.
Is there an easy way to automate this? Has anyone done a vb macro to do something like this?
Any help/advice would be appreciated.

The simplest way is an Export/Import. Excel is your friend!

Thanks Jay, but that is the way I currently do it.
I am about to wite a vb macro to create all the required fields for the accounts required for each new event, then export it to a file for import.
I was just wondering whether there was a (safe and secure)way to insert them directly.

When you say "insert them directly", if you mean using ADO, then no, it's not safe. You definely need to use Accpac views to do this, because both GLAFS and GLAMF are affected.

I haven't done any macros to add GL accounts, but it shouldn't be a big deal. Have you recorded one to see how it's done?

Then you need a way to select/enter the repeating GLAccount number segments and a loop to add the selected/entered first segment and import the new account number.
