I'm storing a subset of XHTML in a schema and everything's working fine except when I encounter special characters like: º which is a symbol entity not defined in XML.

Is there a way to allow for such special characters in an XML Schema?

The XML parser you're using should have replaced the ampersand in [tt]º[/tt] with [tt]&[/tt], giving [tt]º[/tt], which should store correctly.

When your recipient's parser reads it back in, it should reverse the replacement, giving you [tt]º[/tt] again.
