When adding permissions to a folder i can add anyone in my domain list and everything seems fine but after when i check it out again i get an unknown account. Does anyone know why this is happening and how to fix it. I think it has something to do with the SID.

What do you mean when you check it out? What are you doing to check it out?

No the accounts are not disabled, this NT4 server is a member server on win2k domain. And when I look at the permissions at some of the files that are shared on the Nt4 server they say account unknown. That is what I mean when I check it out.

I have had this error before. Mine was because I specified a user's permissions on a directory using my 2000 Pro machine and then I deleted the user account using the NT server. The directory was on a NT 4.0 server.

I have also had problems with changing file permissions on an NT4.0 server from my 2000 Pro server. I would not recomend doing it that way.

Not sure if that helps.

I'm having the exact problem. Did u find a solution? and wat is it?

help... I have posted a similar thread and I am not fining any solutions yet. Do you know anything about LMhosts, and lookup, and have you tried anything there to any effect??
