Hi,

A while back a hard drive (in the office) crashed and I lost the Notes ID file. Since they didn't have much in Notes, I just wiped the account off of the server and created a new account.

In recreating the computer (installing the new hard drive), I reinstalled Notes, and went to setup the client, right at the end of setup I get a cryptic error about "Not having rights to do this or that. I just clicked Ok.

I click on the mail icon and I get a "Choose servers to search" local or the Domino server. I get the error "The DocLink database cannot be located."

So I thought I did something wrong, so I re-deleted the account, and created it again, only this time I used a different name for the mail file. I continue to get the same errors.

How do I get this person back on Notes?

Thanks in advance,

--John

I assume that the user does not exist in the Notes Directory (main address book). Create him with exactly the same user name as before, and change the proposed mail file name, so that it does not replace the one you are trying to access. After completing this, edit the mail file name in the user's address book entry. He should then be able to open his mail database. If you changed the Notes domain when you reinstalled Notes and you cannot gain any access to the mail file, you've got a more difficult problem!

Hi,

I'm still having the same problems.

The user is available in the Notes Address Book, I just can't access the mail directory from the Notes client on his PC. (As I mentioned the PC crashed and all the info was lost, including the Notes ID file).

I tried the "Use the same User Name and different email file" but that didn't work.

Any thoughts?

Thanks.
