Hi,

Im doing some support work and a user has managed to lock out an account. Seeing as they are none to clever about doing things (or confident) is there a way that I can unlock this account with the registry?

I know that ifyou right click on My Computer and click manage you can remotely manage a machine and get to it that way.. BUT (did you see that coming) when I click on the Users and Groups folder I get a message about this path cannot be found.

bear in mind that my machine is on a workgroup and the machines that I need to unlock are on a domain. I have a basic account that i use for authentication but other than that im a little stuck.

Cheers

Reset the accounts on the domain controller. As that pc is in a workgroup and not part of the domain, you wont be able to get access to the user properties.

Let me know if you have any problems.

Kinda worked out the path not found thing. THe machine that i was trying to access FROM was not part of the domain that i was getting TO.

Therefore the whole domain trust thing going on there meant that I couldnt do it. However Ive added the machine to the same domain and can now use MMC to edit groups and all that.

Thanks for the help on this one tho.
