I have 2 windows 2003 servers not on a same domain and when i try to access the shared folder to another machine, my account locks out on that machine. Any suggestions what can I do?
I have admin rights on both machines
Thanks

When you try to connect to the other server, are you connecting using the same accountname (regardless of which domain) for ex) you are user DomainA\BillSQ. when mapping to the other server do you authenticate as DomainA\BillSQ or just BillSQ? it is possible you have the same account name on the other server and your credentials are not the same thus locking out your account

yes I have a same username on the both the machines but with different passwords, what should I do then, should I make different account name?

no when you connect to the other server logon as \\Server2\BillSQ as opposed to just BillSQ. If the passwords were the same.. you prob wouldn't have this prob.

It doesnt ask for the username and password when I try to browse the shared folder on another server. It just says the account is locked.
Is there anyway that I can have it ask for the username and password?

from the command prompt

net use * \\server\share /user:domain\username

From there you will be prompted for your password
