I logged on as an administrator and then created a folder under "My Documents". I then created sub folders where I copied entire CD's of software to. Now, I was trying to make all applications available to all users when somehow I deleated the Admin profile. Now I can't get to those files I copied or any apps I installed even though I started another admin profile.

Please help someone! Surely MS has a way to recover profiles, don't they??

Thanks!

I just created a test user account and then deleted it, to see if I could get it back when I tried to delete it I received a message saying that all user's have a unique identifier that once deleted will not allow you to access those resources, even if you creat an identical user account.

You might try editing the security for that folder and give yourself ownership of it ... and I am not sure that will work either.

are you able to see the folder at all?

or if your very comfortable working in the registry you could look in there,
However the registry is not for the faint of heart.

and as always when working with the registry

MAKE A BACK UP OF YOUR REGISTRY FIRST

I don't mean to be overly dramatic but then, you did [flush] your admin account.

No, I can not see that folder from any account I create, not even an administrator. Yes, I feel compfortable enough to head into the registry, I just don't know where to begin to look. I need this folder bad and it has got to be somewere taking up 1.5 gigs of my hard drive.

Thanks for your help!

Hi,
I just finished searching regedit for references to "my documents" and daggone there are way too many instances of my documents, you might try looking for a specific folder name or maybe a file name.

My registry is extremely large and searching it takes a considerable amount of time. Do you still have the CD's? If it's the disk space your needing there is always the reformat reinstall method of fixing a windows problem.

I know there are 2 schools of thought on this, but I always partition my drives and I only install windows on the C: drive every thing else gets installed to my E: drive. just because I got tired of having to go thru all those cd's, now I just make a shortcut to my programs. Most of the time that works pretty well.
