I have a production database that was current until a few minutes ago. To check some old data, I restored a database that is 5 days old, but I forgot to change the name of the database. I ended up overwriting my production db, essentially erasing the last 5 days of data. Do I have any options or am I stuck? The transaction log, as viewed in the enterprise manager, does not appear to record changes in data though I thought it was supposed to.

I'd really appreciate a hand.

Thanks.

Do you have a backup to restore from that was created say ... yesterday? If not, when you restored the 5 day old DB, it overwrote the TLog as well w/ the 5 day version of the tlog.

Thanks

It is scheduled to run a backup every night, but keeps failing. Not sure why yet. I have been playing with it for a few weeks now. I was able last Friday to backup a single time (without using the scheduler). Looks like I am stuck. My only hope is that IT is taping the drive, but I have been asking the question since Christmas and I have not gotten an answer back about how they are supporting it. That can't be good news.

Thanks, Jeff
