Accessing Variable in Dynamic HTML from VB

I have inherited a web site with VB6 executibles accessed via cgi. There are a number of forms dynamically created in the VB code that I need to access via Javascript for form validation. I cannot seem to get to the variables using Javascript in my HTML pages. Is there some special way to pass the variables to a hidden field? I've tried everything!
