Accessing the General Delivery Mailbox?

How do I access the General Delivery mailbox on my BCM 50? When I dial the DID that points to voicemail it says that this mailbox can not be accessed from the outside. How do I get to it internally? Can it only be accessed from one phone. The mailbox number is 1000 which I don't think is a real extension. Any help is appreciated. Thanks!!!

Is the mailbox initialized? If not, by default you can't access it for the first time by outside.It has to be initialized internally before, unless you allow external initialization form the general properties menu in configuration.
