Our company runs on NetWare v. 5. We use groupwise as our mail server and Boardermanager for the internet. We have 30 public addresses say 208.54.22.202 to 208.54.22.232. Out of that thirty we can ping only 4. Or we are currently using only 4. We are trying to access the restof the IP addresses but have failed so far. We need the numbers to Proxy in from outside the company. Does anybody know why we can't ping rest of the IP addresses? Is there anything we have to do to access those numbers? I know nothing about Novell stuff, but our network admin does.

Are you using NAT on the server?

If you are you will need to setup the NAT translation on the bmanager so it points to the private ipaddress, then add secondary ip address onto the b/manager server. If the corresponding private ip address is live on your lan you should be able to ping it externally.

Be aware of any rules/filtering that may block pings or your applications. Lee Smith

The reason you can't ping to the other addresses IS that they are unassigned. You can't ping to a IP address if it isn't assigned to a device, its the device WITH the address the resonds to the ping NOT the IP address itself. SO just because you have 30 adddresses assigned to you won't make them ping until they are assined. Joshua Rothschild
