Hi,
I'm so new that I need really simple answers. I own a small business so I'm the network administrator(using term loosly). I know how to create my LAN but do not know how to give information to remote users to use it. How does a remote user access the office LAN? What is it's address/how can I find out/how do I make one up? Once I know this how do they get there?

we need more information to help. first you need to create VPN server/host on the office. if you have a router, you may need to open the ports. the router should shows the public ip for access.

There are more simple and secure ways of realizing your task now than M$ PPTP, like buying a cheap VPN Router and use IPSec.

I have have broadband internet, attached to a modem (installed by cable company), attached to a VPN router, which is attached to my computers via Cat 5. Windows XP recognizes the LAN. I setup workgroups with different computer names and the same workgroup names.
If I have a working LAN do I need to setup workgroups at all? Are the LAN connections within the workgroup? Do I need to map drives? Create Bridges?
I also need to know how to access my network from my home. Do I create VPN connection at the office and then one at home? How does it connect? The connections I made say disabled and not connected and when I try to enable them or connect it doesnt work. What do I input at office and at home to be able to talk and where do I input the information? Thanks for any help you can give me.
