Hi there,

wondering if anyone can help.

Trying a Polycom IP7000 in place of a Mitel 5310 Conference Saucer, and can make/receive calls, and DMTF seems ok (can log in to Mitel voicemail).

System is a Mitel 3300 running version 9.

Have been asked if it is possible to make use of the Mitel ability to include up to 8 parties in a conference call.

I believe the Polycom can itself conference 2 callers, but looking for more than that.

Have tried setting feature access codes for:
Conference Call
and even:
Trunk - single break
etc

but to no avail.

Have seen helpful suggestions on here, as to how to achieve the above for analog Polycom units, connected via ONS ports.

Does it involve sending a break, if that is even possible via SIP.

Many thanks

Try to make call transfer. If it works, try to push "transfer" again and enter conference feature code when you get dial tone.

I have got it to work using:

Establish call
Flash
Establish next call
Flash + Conference code

Repeat as required:
Flash
Establish next call
Flash + Conference code

There is a COS option that can interfere:
Call waiting Swap - Must be off

You System options must be configured to allow up to 8 parties as well.

Thanks, will try these.

kwbmitel, how are you sending flashes, from the SIP Polycom phones?

The Polycom will have a flash key.

It is one of the soft key buttons under the LCD, at least on IP 4000/6000

hi,

I'm afraid I'm not seeing any softkey/menu option to send a flash.

Even whilst a call is in progress

I've tried adjusting the dialplan/digitmap to allow dialing of say: *4 for:

Conference Call
*4
1020
(these are entered under 'feature access code assignment'

but to no avail

Would anyone be able to share their digitmap, and details of how they send the flash?

This is using a Polycom IP4000

Many thanks

I use following dialmap

*4|[1-8]xxx|9911|9[2-9]xxxxxxxxx|91xxxxxxxxxx|9011.T

*4 is your feature code

thanks slapin,

during a call, if we press:
Trnsfer
or:
Confrnc

and then dial: *4

we get an engaged tone, before we even get to dial the other extension/number.

We don't seem to have any option to send a flash, during a call.

Firmware on the Polycom IP 4000 has been updated to the latest: 3.1.2

It doesn't appear to matter, whether the Mitel is set for:
Replace System based with device based in-call features
or not, in: SIP Device Capabilities Assignment

configuration wise, on the Polycom, we've pretty much just entered:
Server 1, Address = Mitel's IP address

and 700 (the SIP extension), under:
Display Name
Address
Auth User ID
Auth Password
Label

If it is relevant, I can't get *4 to work from normal Mitel phones, say a 5340. Even programming a key as 'single flash', pressing it during a call (nothing happens), dialing *4, nothing happens (I suspect the *4 is being sent to the person I've called, rather than being interpreted by the Mitel).

Is flash definitely the way to go, and is it definitely applicable to SIP based calls/Polycom, and not just analog?

There is a Mitel Doc on interconnect with IP 7000, have you read it?

Just out of interest have you gone into key assignment of the sip extension and added a multicall of itself? This is normally need to get "dual path" typ working

we have had a look at the Mitel doc for connecting Polycom 4000 to the Mitel.

We can make and receive calls ok (which seems to be all that is covered in that document)

We just can't conference in other phones (using the Mitel's ability to conference up to 8 parties)

Have you looked at how many appearances you have of that number in key assignment??

Speaking with Polycom, it seems it may not be possible:

"Its not supported above 3 on the local conference phone. We support server based conferencing but I am not sure if Mitel 3300 fully supports that. We use a conference URL to support it through the conf management on the phone but I don't recall Mitel testing that"

(3 above, relates to 3 parties)

So, it ought to be possible through analog Polycom's, sending breaks and then feature access codes, but not through the SIP ones it seems.....

I think what they are saying is that it users the "server" i.e. 3300 to create the conference. Mitel does support "server" based conferencing

Ok. Stepped on the same issue configuring a brand new Polycom with SW9.0 UR1

When you dial the first extension it will connect ok. If you dial external number, don't actually know why, it will connect call but half way, so additional softkeys on the Polycom will not be available and there is no way to use conference feature code.
Solution in adjusting SIP Device Capabilties.
I put them this way:

Disable Reliable Provisional Responses (Yes)
Force sending SDP in initial Invite message (Yes)
Suppress Use of SDP Inactive Media Streams (No)
Renegotiate SDP To Enforce Symmetric Codec (No)
Allow Device To Use Multiple Active M-Lines (Yes)

Now it dispays softkeys after each connection. Select <Conference> or <Transfer> and when you get a dial tone enter *4
