Accessing data from multiple sites via SPS

We have a license for Portal Server but never really used it. We have many
individual STS sites out there.

One department who has about 5 sites is now wanting to be able to pull data
from multiple lists and libraries from across their 5 sites and are thinking
Portal Server could provide that sort of functionality.

I am just starting to look into Portal so am not that familiar if that is
really something it can do. I have seen tools like CorasWorks that say they
can rollup data from multiple sites, but am wondering if this is something I
can just do out of the box with Portal Server.

Any advise would be great! Thanks in advance!

Hi,

I would suggest that you look into the new SharePoint 2007 version. It has a lot mor functionality out-of-the-box than SharePoint Portal Server 2003.

I have not yet had the time to look very deep into it, but the things I have tried and the things I have seen will make life a lot easier with 2007 version.
