accessing data file with Remote desktop

I have two remote users running XP Pro OS who have just installed QuickBooks pro and would like to access the data file for QB to input data.
The main QuickBooks pro data file is located on a Windows 2003 server behind a Netgear FVS318 router . Both the remote users and the server have broadband internet access. Would using remote desktop solve this problem?

sure but the programs and data STAY on the server.
Terminal services has no built-in file transfer.
