accessing compressed entourage mail files

i use quark 6.1. For some forgotten reason i have been using microsoft entourage for mac. it recently got filled up and i couldn't open it without first allowing it to compress all my emails and addresses. how do i access these files, they are years of contacts. the files (mailing lists and database cache) are now located in microsoft user data. i 've learned my lesson, but i need these files.

They're still all there. You can access them by opening any old mail, your address book, etc. It's a good idea to make a copy of the database (or identity) in case it gets corrupted. That's one advantage of MAIL - no database.

Forgot, you can open Entourage and go to File/Export contacts. to get your address book out of Entourage
