accessing comport/other apps on server

Im trying to get data that come from a comport onto my website. assuming its not possible to access comport directly from asp, i made a programm in VB that does this for me. Only, how do I get data from the program (running on the server) into my webpage? making it an ActiveX component is not an option because the client uses Netscape :(
so how can I get data from a serverside appli into my asp script?
