In work, I generally access the internet directly through my modem. Before I reinstalled my system, I could also type in the IP address of our NT server and view our internal web pages. Not any more. The cables are fine (I can access certain folders on the server) and it doesn't make any difference if I'm connected to the internet or not. I'm sure it's something simple and I'm going to kick myself when I find out! Any ideas?!

Have you checked your internet settings, I think there is an option to bypass the proxy for local address.
Could be that!

Have you setup TCP/IP on the mac, to be in the same range as the NT server? Other wise it will look to the internet instead.

Have you unchecked the option to only use TCP/IP when needed? Change TCP/IP to Advanced to access the option. If you can't fix it in 20 minutes call someone who can.

Thanks for the reply. Still not working, but I think it's because I'm not following your advice correctly...

Ok, say the internal web page I'm looking for is For your first point, I tried entering the address 10.0.0.2 into the bypass box to no avail. The second point, I don't really understand. My TCP/IP settings are set up for PPP (should it be Ethernet instead?) and the only IP addresses are my ISPs name servers. Third point, that option is unchecked, but I tried both just in case. Still no luck!

I appreciate you taking the time to answer this. I hope you can see something very obviously wrong in my settings!

Ok, Appletalk needs to point to the Network, it could be at the moment pointing to the modem. Think that TCP/IP should be pointing at ethernet as well.

Think it should then look for the IP address you need then. If you can't fix it in 20 minutes call someone who can.

Thanks for that! Got it sorted out, more or less. Didn't go near AppleTalk, but set up 2 TCP/IP configurations, 1 using PPP and the other using Ethernet. Am now using Location Manager to switch between the two. Good enough for me!

Thanks again for your help P20!
