Accessing AIX server by MSIE

If I try to use MSIE to access AIX, using:
ftp://userass@servername

I see the default directory for that user.

When I attempt to drill into a subfolder I get an error 550. There is %20 representing the space so I remove it and replace it with space.

Even putting back the user/pass it gives error 550 but as that user, in AIX I have access.

Any ideas how to retain user/pass authentication and why this would happen?

Maybe you could turn on FTP logging on the server, and see if there's any friendly error messages. I don't know if this will help you:
