accessing active directory crystal reports pro xi

Ok - I am brand new to CR and ldap queries. I followed the instructions on the Bo web site for cr 10. In the add command to report box it says to enter a sql query in the box below. I think that everything I have read is giving examples of ldap queries ( or not - I am really new at this ) The example I am following is this:

This query will return data from Active Directory where the domain equals 'xtremebikes.com'.

'LDAP://DC=xtremebikes, DC=COM'

I try using this format and it keeps giving me errors about code. Any help would be wonderful
