Hello everybody!
Can someone help me? I am a bit new to this and have struggled for a while now with this problem.
I have a simple MSAccess DB that lies on one a HD that can be accessed by everybody in the company. Is there a easy way to connect and/or edit to that DB through a browser in our intranet?? I can not use ASP (I think) cause i do not have access to put stuff on the server.
I have been looking around on internet but get confused with all the info and dont realy know what is possible. If you have any idea please let me know.
I saw something with DataAccess pages. Is that something one might use, and can one create them in Access 97 (how)?

Has anyone answered your question yet? I have the exact same problem and I can't find an answer yet either. It would be solved if I could use Access 2000 but I can't.

I'll keep you posted if I find something.

Cheers

Hi there. Thanks!
Well I also tried Data Access pages in XP and even converted the DB to version 97. Tried it and it worked..but as soon as I tried it at work - Blank Screen :)
I hope we can solve our problem soon. If you find out about something let me know.
Bye

Hi there
I had the same Problem as you guys. But managed to get it sorted out.
Data Access Pages where only released in Access 2000 and XP.
Im afraid even if you Change you data base to 97 you wont be able to open the Data access pages. What I could suggest is opening the saved Html file (that you have created in XP) in front page and some how linking it to you Access 97 Database.
Im not sure if it would work but its worth a tri
Hope this could help you guys
Cheers

Also note that Data access pages require the internet client that is going to be accessing them to have MSaccess on their machine. "Big Dollars Billy" at it again!

It can be done but requires ASP. if you are on a local intranet, it can be set up on your machine if you do not have access to the server. but you must have a copy of the database locally. You will then need to install IIS of PWS on the machine. Next you will make an html file that uses asp to call records from your access database..

hope this helps

Seemed you need access to the server since ASP itself
must be running on the server.

Your web pages including ASP got to be on that server.

Remember ASP is "server side" software.

Whatever data you need to manipulate thu your web applications have to be on that server.

I also have had bad luck with the data page,I ended up createing a web page that had a link to the actual db but i also had it on an Apache 2 webserver. It was a bit of a pain but fun doing it
