I tried to create a query within Access97 that would give me all contacts within a list of accounts. I used the like command and the (*) wildcard for each accoint name e.g. like "aventis*" which I listed all 26 accounts that I wanted. When I tried to run the query, I keep getting a message "Query to complex".

I mimiced the same query in access2000, and the query worked. Did I do something wrong in access97 or is there a limit on the number of items you can query on within Access97?

Also, When I converted my Access97 database to 2000, I got a compile error. It sayed that it would need to do everytime open database. Everything seems to be in-order, but I wasn't sure why I got this type of message when converting to 2000? Could someone help?

query: any other criteria in that query? i've gotten that error now and then when i have too many (what too many is, i don't know) criteria and formulas, etc in my query.

compile error: have you compiled your db? you should before releasing. also before converting.

open a module in design view.
go DEBUG+COMPILE AND SAVE ALL MODULES
fix any errors it comes up with, if any.
that should fix that.

THe message that I get when I try to convert my 97 db to 2000 is "There were compilation errors during the conversion or enabling of these database." I also compress the 97 db before converting it.
