Please, please please can any one tell me how to Auto Number from a pre defined number ie. 3456. Obviously the next number generated would be 3457 and so on. This is so I can carry on
from the number the old system finished at.

Try creating lots of dummy records and then delete them. Start adding new records BEFORE compacting...
