Access windows and solaris systems by name

Hi all,

we have windows2000 network. Now I had installed sun solaris on one of the sparc machines and i am able to get in the the windows network through samba. Till now everything is fine. Now i have an applemachine with MAC OS X and connected to this windows network.
I am able to access the windows servers and clients as well as the solaris systems using IPs. But not able to access using the system names.
Atleast through Browsers also I am not able to access iis or iplanet using system names

Is it possible in MAC os 9/X to access the windows and solaris systems using their UNC names. If so how??

Any tools available like samba for MAC also.

Please do suggest me, I am in great need.
