Access Violation

When starting WP I get this error

WPWIN.EXE
Exception: Access Violation
(0xc0000005) in 0x3456631b

This is only when the going into the file settings, and changing the path to some of the setting to network paths. Yes these network paths do work. All current SP and patches have been applied.
If anyone has info please reply.
