Hello all - let me preface by saying I am not a programmer, just an IT/Admin who inherited a network Paradox installation who is hoping to get some expert advice.
Briefly: We recently upgraded our server from MS SBS2000 to SBS2003. We also upgraded some clients from Win2k to XP Pro. One of these clients now has a constant problem of losing the working directory at every reboot and sometimes in between. It also loses the ability to browse the network, so this may not be a Paradox issue and may be network communications or perhaps a permissions issue?
BUT -- the same client can no longer print a roster (report or rsl file, I think) and receives an error of "Access violation at address 0053C999 in module pxsrv32.dll. Write of address 00000004" -- the same client has no problem running queries or printing address labels from the database.
I realize that some of this stuff is custom-built (by my predecessor) and that the problem may not apply outside our installation, but I'm posting in the hope that someone has seen something like this. I did check other posts and the FAQs and found nothing that applied in this situation.
I have not tried a complete reinstall yet simply because I suspect that it would be wasted time.
Anyone have some advice? It's the end of the workday for me, so I may not reply to a post until Wed. Aug. 9th. Thanks!
Philonius
