Access to the files on other computer

I m in the study room. I have another computer in the living room. How can I access the files from there? Any of you know how to set up to access my files from another computer? I have the cable hooked up on both computers.

What kind of cable? Only about 6 different kinds. And the type of cable kind of pushes you to the types of sharing.
