Hi there,

I have got 15 lotus notes servers in our mail network. (spread all over europe)
Users are now saying they require access to mail while out on the road.
I'm sure all I have to do is to install the HTTP option.

However does each office require an internet connection?
Does each server have to have http installed?
When a user in Paris goes on business do I give him the internet address of the ADSL line in Paris? when the guy in London goes on business give him the IP address of the London ADSL? etc etc

Regards

If you have different mail servers containing different mailboxes, you'll have to put them all online and each user will have to have the IP of his mail server.
Or, you could eventually group all mailboxes in one web server and open only that one - but I'd hate to imagine the admin issues that go with that (I'm not an admin).

Beware though : if all you do is run the HTTP task, you're asking for trouble in my opinion.
It would be a very good idea to ensure that "anonymous" is set in every ACL to No Access (unless it is necessary to set it to something else). Plus, there are certainly some things to do that a full-fledged Admin will be able to outline better than I can.

Pascal.

Many thanks Pascal

I've been thinking about this this morning.

I've decided that I will have one additional Http enabled server. If a user requires e-mail on the road(and there are not too many yet) then their mail box will get replicated to the web server. The additional server will be put in a de-militarized zone (DMZ.)

All I have to get now is the cash for the additional server and for a notes licence and also setup a DMZ on my firewall.

Regards

I rather like the centralized idea myself - makes for better security and reduces costs. If you can pull it off, good for you !
