I am trying to access a Linux 8.1 host using Exceed 6.2 on a Windows 2000 workstation. However, I cannot see the host in the XDMCP Display Manager Chooser. I connect to 2 other hosts with no problem, although these other hosts have different versions of operating systems.

So far I have changed the value of Enabled from 0 to 1 and then back to 0 in the /etc/X11/gdm/gdm.conf file. No luck so far.

Any help with this issue would be greatly appreciated.
Thank You

Hi,

You should just be able to follow the instructions in the xdmcp howto --> .

It could be that Mandrake is firewalling udp port 177 (and possibly TCP ports 6000-6063 for X11 itself) so that is why you can't connect. Mandrake 8.1 uses a firewall call 'tiny' and its default is in /etc/sysconfig/iptables . You can admin via the Mandrake Control Center.

Hope this helps
