Access to all netware volumes in a NDS Tree

Hi All,
Within our ICT Suport Unit there is a need for the desktop support team to have read access to volume VOL1 on all the servers in the tree. Is there a quick way of setting this up at the top of the tree?. I have tried setting up the group as a trustee of the top object and granted the browse and inheritable object rights but this doesn't seem to work on the netware volumes without also granting access at the volume level
