I have a file server setup with an internal ip of 192.168.0.3 which is behind a cable router with a valid internet ip address assigned by the cable company. Is there a way to access this file server from the Internet?

Thank you very much in advance.

Not directly, you would need to use something like VNC and do a port redirection on your router. What exactly do you want to host\ do with the server?

depends on the router.

For instance, I know linksys routers allow for proxying traffic for a certain port ot the web.

If you are doing this for file sharing, i'd advise against it, assuming you are on a windows box. But it works great for mail and web....
