I am trying to configure my P series server to power on immediately after a power loss. In its current configuration, when power is lost the server merely goes into standby mode with OK displayed on the LCD and the LED blinking.

I have read that I can change a setting somewhere is the "service processor" menus but I am not sure how to reach these menus. I have an RJ-45 connector on the front of my server which might be used but I am not sure.

Anyone know how I can:

1. Access the SP menues.
2. Configure the system to power on automatically after power loss.

Thanks

The service processor menus are available with server powered on, but not yet running (when display shows 'OK', press enter on console.)

Don't know exactly how to configure autostart after power loss, but dig into the menus and see if you can find it.

You can use the RJ45 on the front or the serial ports on the back.
Connect a laptop with a terminal emulator or a dumb console via a null modem cable, 9600, 8, n, 1, and while the system is at OK hit any key on the serial attached dumb console and you should see the service processor main menu.

Chapter 7 of the service guide should tell you all you need to know.

My memory is failing but if they behave like power 5 machines and you have a HMC you could also right click the managed system, while it is at OK - not partition standby, and select the open a terminal option.
