I am fairly new at Access Security. I distribute my application, so of course, I would like to learn more about security.

I use the User Level Security Wizard to setup users and passwords for those users. I then set specific permissions for each user. I have that part down. I also know that I have to include the .mdw file in my application package.

Question:

How do I regain FULL access to that same database? How do I go back in as Admin?

No matter what I try, I can NOT get back in with FULL permissions.

What am I doing wrong?

Thanks.

create a user in the .mdw
assign that user to the admin group
set your database to give full control to admins...

it is possible to point your database to a specific .mdw file by including the /wrkgrp "mdw fiel path" option in the command line...

so if you are really stuck, you can make a completely new .mdw and point your db to use that file. You will still have to assign a user to the admins group in your new mdw file though...

Okay, I am still doing something wrong.

I created a user I called Manager.

I assigned him to the Admins group in the Wizard. I also created additional users with unique passwords and assigned them to specific groups (i.e. New Data Users, etc.).

Everything seems to work fine with the users.
Except; When I log on as Manager, I can NOT get into a Module.

What am I still doing wrong?

What happens when you try to get in to an existing module or create a new one?

When I log in as the Manager, I can create a NEW Module fine, but I when I try to open an existing Module, it says I do not have permission.

The other users work just like they are supposed to. I assigned the Manager to the Admins group but I still can not opne an existing module.
