I have 2 (formerly) related tables in which I want to modify the size of a couple of fields. I dropped the relationship in the relationship diagram - but when I attempt to change the size of one of the fields - I get an error message "you cannot change the datatype or field size of this field; it is part of one or more relationships". It goes on to say that I should delete the relationships from the relationship diagram. What am I missing here???
I'd appreciate any feedback!

Thanks,

Nancy

Hi

This has happened to me a number of times - make sure that you have all the tables and relationships displayed. Go to Show all relationships in the relationship view.

Have you tried compacting the DB? If so try importing all of your objects into a new DB.

I had already done a compact and repair. Thanks for the import idea. I was able to import the 2 tables that were giving me trouble into a new mdb - without importing relationships. I successfully made the changes and imported the tables back and recreated the relationships.

The mdb was originally created in Access2000 and has been converted to XP. I don't know if the conversion may have had something to do with the problem.

Thanks again,

Nancy
