I have compiled my system into an MDE file and then running it on a system with only runtime installed. On the "clean" machine (without office installed), I am getting several error messages which say"

"Function is not available in expressions in table=level validation expression."

I have no idea what this means since that portion of the system runs fine on my development machine.

Anyone any clues?

Same version of runtime and development access ?
Same version of data and access ?
No "exotic" references in the development version ?

Hope This Helps, PH.

Just finished checking. I do have the same version of full access as the runtime (2003). The file formats are the same. (2003) I have the following "exotic" references:

- MS Scripting runtime
- Redemption for Outlook
- AOSMTP - an e-mail object from EMail Architect

Are this 3 "exotic" libraries installed and properly registered in the "clean" machines ?

BTW, why Redemption if you don't have Office ?

My system requires that Word be installed but not Outlook. In fact, I don't have either on my "clean" machine. Do you think that installing just Word would help?

How can I tell if the three libraries are installed correctly on the "clean" machine?

Bill J

Just had some success. I removed "Date()" as the default value in a table def and now editing that table works on the "clean" machine.

Does that make sense to you PHV?

Bill J

I'm afraid you cured the effect, not the cause.
Usually an error on a standard VBA function like Date() denotes a references issue.

So how do I check if the libraries are properly registered if I don't have any Office components installed?

Bill J

Again, why referencing Redemption if you don't have Outlook ?

My system can take advantage when Outlook is installed but not everyone has it installed. Should I create two versions of my software - one if Outlook is installed and the other without?

I do have Outlook installed on my development machine.

I strongly suggest you to have a look at late binding.
