Hi Everyone

Currently we have some computers which have access 2003 runtime installed because they didn't have office professional.

However on some computers, the software has been upgraded so that office professional has been installed on top of access runtime.

The problem is that the access library itself seems to be corrupted and the runtime refuses to be uninstalled, even if office professional has been uninstalled completely!

Does anyone have any ideas?

Thanks

Assuming the Microsoft knowlege base doesn't have anything I would try the following scenarios if there are a lot of machines involved. If it was just one, I'd only try the first and last.

If you are lucky...
Repair Office

If you are less than lucky...
Install Runtime
Uninstall Runtime
Repair Office

If you are unlucky...
Uninstall Office
Install Runtime
Uninstall Runtime
Install Office

sorry for the late reply, have been a bit busy...

however, I've already tried all of the above.

the trouble is, the system will not let me install / uninstall the runtime at all, keeps comming up with unable to access file problem, even if the msi/cab files are on the local hdd.

What error message do you get when trying to uninstall Runtime?

Ed Metcalfe.

I can't remember the exact message, but it was something along the lines of:

error 1501 (best guess)
the "c:\temp\accessrt.msi" file cannot be accessed, check your network/permissions/mapping

this occurs roughly 3/4 into the installation or uninstall or at least according to the progress bar
