Access Restrictions don't work properly

Hi everybody,
We just set up a IIS5 and are facing a little problem. We have several folders each with another passcode. If you enter from the index-site you always will be asked for the password. But if you enter the complete URL then you can access without getting prompted for a password. What could that be. Any help is greatly appreciated.

have you checked & doublechecked the NTFS permissions on all folders & subfolders? Peter Van Eeckhoutte
